Rephlex

Rephlex Records is a record label started in 1991 by electronic musician Richard D. James (aka Aphex Twin) and Grant Wilson-Claridge. Rephlex coined the term braindance to describe the otherwise uncategorisable output of Aphex Twin and Rephlex Records. The official definition is as follows:
Braindance is the genre that encompasses the best elements of all genres, e.g traditional, classical, electronic music, popular, modern, industrial, ambient, hip hop, electro, house, techno, breakbeat, hardcore, ragga, garage, drum and bass, etc.
Rephlex has released the music of many notable and influential electronic artists, among them Mike Paradinas, the founder of Planet Mu Records, synth pop revivalist and electro pioneer Ed Upton, prolific dance musician Luke Vibert, and electronic musician and virtuoso bass player Squarepusher. The label has also remastered and re-released the early works of its acid heroes 808 State and The Future Sound of London, and relaunched the career of electronic duo producers Black Devil with a re-release of their first record.

ET009 - DNA

Guest Mix from DNA - Listen Here

DNA is no stranger to sound. Producer, DJ, Sound Designer, Foley Artist and Mastering Engineer, his list of shows is endless. His mix for Ear Treats is flawless and a great message to all those who think dubstep is slowly wobbling itself into a corner. A grass routes salute to the reggae influence on modern music and a hard hitting thunder of bass which stretches the ears as much as the speakers. Expect to hear a lot of DNA... we're lucky to have him on the ET cast.

Chip Jacks - Ode To Techno

Guest mix from Chip Jacks Listen Here

What can we say... just when you thought techno was getting dry in its old age Chip shows us its alive and well with this mix of seminal tracks, showing us how the greats did it and how they're doing it again and again. Whats great about Chips mixing is that the pace never seems to stop, well aware we are living in an age where everyone has the ability to mix records, Chips selection of tracks shows what putting a genre based mix together is all about. It's seamlessly constructed and runs through the times of techno like its being reborn.

Here's what Chip had to say...

"I didn't necessarly want this mix to represent the classics, it's more a nod to all the  different artists and all the different styles that have interested and influenced me over the years that I've played and loved techno. There's some classics in here but there's some new stuff too."

EatTreats004 Kevin Howbrook - Pace Up Mix [24-05-09]

Drum and bass only existed in my mind as music that staners put on while they're on the bus...however a lot more interesting Drum and bass is being released. Drum and bass has evolved over the past 10 years from jungle into something almost completely new, the only thing that anchors its genre heading is the bpm. Ultra compressed drum loops are now blasted in after horrific intros from artists like Current Value and Donny, and macc creates seamless breaks that flow along with no other help.

This is an hour mix of clean new styles of D and B evolving into the unnamed genre of up paced ultra compressed drum noise. Some call it darkstep, some call it techstep, to us it's just and ear treat. Enjoy.
